Roseanne Varner
President and Chief Executive Officer
Prior to joining Aragon Surgical, Inc., Ms. Varner served as President and CEO of Aspire Medical where she continued the product development and clinical trials for the Advance system, a new treatment for sleep apnea. Prior to Aspire Medical she served as Founder/CEO of Atherotech, where she transformed the company into the leader in the expanded cholesterol testing market. Prior to joining Atherotech, she was president and CEO of Gynecare, Inc., where she spearheaded the company's growth and subsequent acquisition by Johnson & Johnson. Earlier, she served as CEO of Luxar Corporation, a privately held manufacturer of laser surgery tools for cosmetic, medical and dental applications, where she positioned the company for an acquisition by ESC Medical. Her prior experience also includes several senior management positions with Medtronic, I-Flow Corporation, Applied Plastics and American Hospital Supply. Ms. Varner holds a B.S. degree from Ohio State University and an M.S. degree in systems management from the University of Southern California.
Alan Cremers
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Cremers has more than 25 years of broad business experience, initially as a practicing CPA with Ernst and Whinney and then followed by commercial and LBO banking with First Interstate, ScotiaBank and GE Capital. Mr. Cremers then gained startup high-tech experience in communications, networking, software and life science companies. Mr. Cremers focused on raising more than $500 million in venture equity and debt financing, completing IPO's and secondary public financings, completing multiple M&A transactions on both the buy and sell side, cost rationalization to reduce burn rates, and establishing business interests in Europe and China.
As CFO for Aragon Surgical, Mr. Cremers manages all financial, planning, legal, and IT functions. Prior to joining Aragon Surgical, Mr. Cremers held CFO positions for venture-backed startups Corticon Technologies, Luminous Networks, AtMotion, Inc. and Deltagen, Inc. Mr. Cremers also held senior financial positions with Covad and Leasing Solutions during their IPOs.
Mr. Cremers has a BBA in Accounting from the University of Iowa, an MBA from Haas at the University of California, Berkeley and is a licensed certified public accountant. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of CPAs.
Alan Curtis
Vice President, Regulatory, Quality & Clinical Affairs
Alan brings to Aragon Surgical greater than 25 years of experience in the medical device industry, specifically in regulatory, quality, and clinical affairs. Having received his Regulatory Affairs Certification, Alan has worked at several medical device start-ups developing a variety of medical products. He has served as Quality Manager at Endosonics, Manager of Quality Systems at Aesculap, Director of Regulatory, Quality, and Clinical Affairs at Heraeus, and Vice President of Regulatory, Quality, and Clinical Affairs at SurX, and also served as a Regulatory Associate at W.L. Gore Medical Products.
Alan’s expertise includes all aspects and types of U.S. and foreign regulatory filings, the development of rigorous quality systems, and the implementation of both simple and complex pre-clinical and clinical trials to support regulatory and marketing needs. A superb educator and mentor, Alan has now brought his considerable talent to Aragon Surgical, where he oversees the creation and maintenance of the company’s growing quality system, the development and implementation of the regulatory strategy and processes, and the creation and performance of pre-clinical and clinical trials.
Danielle Kent
Vice President of Marketing
Ms. Kent joined Aragon Surgical in April of 2009 as Vice President of Marketing. She has nearly 16 years of experience in the development, launch and marketing of innovative medical devices. Her past experience includes physician and sales force training, market development and the support of successful obtainment of Medicare and private payer coverage for new technologies.
In previous roles with Sanarus where she was promoted to Vice President of Marketing in 2008, at American Medical Systems and Endocare she was responsible for marketing and launching innovative, user friendly cryotechnology systems to the OB/GYN and urological markets. From 1995 to 2000 Ms. Kent was in product management with Mentor Corporation’s Urology division. Ms. Kent holds a B.A. in Communications from the University of the Pacific and an MBA from California State University Northridge.
Brad Snow
Vice President, Sales
In November 2008, Aragon Surgical hired Brad A. Snow as Vice President of Sales. Brad brings to Aragon Surgical strong start-up and large company experience and a successful track record as a medical device commercial leader. Previous to joining Aragon Surgical, Inc., Brad served as Head of Sales and Marketing at Medlogics, a DES Cardiology device company. Prior to Medlogics, Brad served at Rubicor Medical a novel breast device company as Head of Sales and Business Development. Earlier, Brad served at the ground floor in several Sales/Sales Leadership positions at Fox Hollow Technologies, which became one of the most successful device commercializations. Brad’s prior experience also includes several Sales/Sales Leadership positions with RITA Medical, Oracle, Nugenesis Technologies and GE Medical.
